Solutions Engineer - Engineering

The holder of this role will be required to lead client interaction, translating customer needs in the Engineering industry, into actionable product requirements and specifications. The role covers a range of potential Engineering sectors, including nuclear fission, fusion, mechanical, materials, digital, or systems engineering.

Role Responsibilities:

Stay abreast of sector/domain developments, including the key:

  • Players and competitors
  • Trends and technologies
  • Challenges/problems experienced in the sector
  • Other developments in the sector

Build strong relationships with customers/prospective customers:

  • Build and maintain relationships, primarily with technical level contacts, from initial contact through to long-term collaborations
  • Provide customers with outstanding customer service and support

Utilise domain knowledge and customer relationship insights to:

  • Identify new business opportunities (customers, markets and product capabilities)
  • Enhance digiLab authority and credibility in the sector, including giving presentations, attending events, creating videos/articles, and collaborating on publications, as appropriate.

Business development and sales:

  • Maintain and share accurate records of business development activities, customer interactions
  • Provide customers with technical support throughout the pre-sales process and provide follow-up where necessary
  • Ensure smooth and seamless handover to the sales team if appropriate, to facilitate successful sales opportunities and ensure the ongoing relationship with the customer is sustained effectively

Maximise product knowledge and sharing:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's technical products and services
  • Communicate the value and benefits of these products to potential clients.
  • Identify and define sector problems that can be addressed using twinLab and other digiLab capabilities and products
  • Take initiatives to promote sector knowledge transfer across the team
  • Identify and suggest gaps, improvements or key features in twinLab (and other digiLab products as appropriate), to aid product development for the sector
  • Document use-cases that can be used by marketing, sales, business development and software engineering teams

Raise awareness of digiLab and its product offerings within the industry through:

  • Attendance at sector events and conferences
  • Conducting presentations, to showcase digiLab technology solutions to potential customers, and to the sector in general

About you:

Key competencies for this role are:

  • Technical domain expertise within one or more of the following engineering domains is essential for the role: nuclear fission, fusion, mechanical, materials, digital, or systems engineering.
  • Creativity and an enquiring mindset - a desire to master new areas such as data science, uncertainty quantification and other industries and technologies.
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to dissect complex technical concepts, and explain them to stakeholders with a range of technical competencies.
  • A strategic mindset - able to recognise and analyse opportunities and capabilities.
  • Strong interest in business and partnerships; keen to develop commercial relationships and guide product and technology to capture market opportunities.
  • Computationally competent, with experience performing data analysis
  • Python experience and modelling capabilities are desirable.
  • A motivated and agile professional, interested in supporting and driving the ambitions of a fast-paced deep tech start-up.
