Announcing our new Chair of the digilab board

Announcing the new Chair of the digiLab board

We’re delighted to announce that Alan Prior is taking over as Chair of the digiLab board.

Alan has been a member of our Executive Board as non-executive director, but is now changing his role to have a stronger presence in the digiLab team and guide the company through the next stage of business growth.

As a highly qualified technical business leader with more than 35 years experience in the engineering software industry he has built technical support, pre-sales and consulting activities from scratch; developed strong client relationships across a wide range of industries; and led multinational technical teams such as SIMULIA brand VP at Dassault Systemes.

Alan’s experience and networks will supercharge digiLab’s growth, and we look forward to accessing his skills in understanding our clients’ challenges, leading career development within our team and building out our business functions to help us scale.

Alan said, “I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the world-leading experts at digiLab and to join them on this exciting journey. Traditional modelling and simulation methods can be expanded and accelerated through the advanced Machine Learning capabilities developed at digiLab, helping us to address many of today’s critical engineering challenges.”

Alan takes over from Paul Garman who has chaired the digiLab board through its formation and early growth.  We’re pleased that Paul remains with us as a non-executive director so we continue to benefit from his wide business experience and mentoring skills.

Paul said, “It’s been an extremely exciting time to incubate digiLab since they spun out of the University of Exeter.  We have recognised that we’re at a point where we need a highly experienced technical lead to continue digiLab’s journey, and handing on the Chairship to Alan is a great step towards digiLab’s scale up.”

digiLab was founded to provide top-tier data science to the engineering industries. A spin-out from the University of Exeter, digiLab uses pioneering machine learning to transform the efficiency, resilience and environmental sustainability of its customers.
