digiLab is expanding its collaborations with key partners in the fusion industry, supporting two major projects under the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s Lithium Breeding Tritium Innovation (LIBRTI) programme. This £200 million initiative, supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, is focused on accelerating the development of fusion fuel.
About LIBRTI
The LIBRTI programme, under the broader Fusion Futures initiative, is a four-year programme aiming to create a cutting-edge test facility. By studying how neutrons interact within a fusion reactor, the programme seeks to optimise material selection and breeding of tritium fuel for sustained fusion operations.
Through the LIBRTI programme, digiLab will be collaborating on two major projects:
- Amentum: “Development of a Liquid Lithium Digital Twin"
- The University of Manchester: “Breeder Agnostic Tritium Inventory Digital Twin System”
What role is digiLab playing in these projects?
With digiLab's software platform, the Uncertainty Engine, the involved project teams will be able to apply cutting-edge machine learning and uncertainty quantification to advance their development.
By contributing to these forward-thinking collaborations with the Uncertainty Engine and digiLab’s niche expertise, the company demonstrates its commitment to advancing both engineering excellence, and sustainable energy solutions - supporting the rapid development of safe, reliable fusion energy.
